Integrated farm building. c.1800, with C19 and C20 alterations. Red brick, with gabled and hipped Welsh slate roofs with dentilled brick eaves. Stone external steps. 2 storeys. 3 ranges forming a U-plan enclosing a yard, or midden. Approx. 50m on a side, the south side slightly shorter.
EXTERIORS: Facing yard, the NORTH side has 7 stable doors, mainly with segmental heads. Above, a rounded arch opening to the pigeoncote, flanked to left by two 2-light casements, and to right by a similar window. Alternating with these openings, five X-shaped breathers. External stair to left gable. EAST range has segment headed barn doors to left, and full-height through-passage to right. Single door to left. Diamond breathers to the ground floor, and alternating triangular breathers above. SOUTH side has blocked segmental headed carriage doors, and external steps to right. Above, a 2-light casement and a plank door. Right gable has large C20 opening to ground floor and replacement brick above.
Facing out, the EAST side has through-passage to left, flanked by 3-light windows, that to right renewed, and large opening with double doors to right. Above, 4 square pitch holes and several X-shaped and diamond breathers. Outer SOUTH side has 2 central pairs of carriage doors, flanked by single doors with overlights. Large 3-light casement to left. Above, central cross-mullioned casement, and smaller glazing bar window to left.
INTERIOR: Chamfered wooden cross beams with joists supporting floors. Strutted kingpost roofs with single purlins. Dovecote has brick nesting boxes. Stable restored late-C20 with stall partitions and cobbles. Cast iron firegrate in stable loft. Listed as a large and relatively unaltered integrated farm building of c.1800 that is complementary to the Grade II* Pradoe including attached service ranges and out-buildings (q.v), the Grade II dairy, brewhouse and pigsties (q.v.), manure sump (q.v.), kitchen garden wall (q.v.), and carpenter's shop (q.v.) and the Grade II Registered landscape, all with which it has group value.
