(East side) Nos.3, 4 AND 4A
05/08/75 GV II Pair of terrace houses now shops. Early C19, later C19 and C20 alterations.
MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar, concrete tile or slate roof.
EXTERIOR: Built as a pair, each differently modified. Three storeys with attic in mansard roof, and three windows wide. No.3 has concrete tile roof, with a paired sash dormer, above two deep twelve pane sashes, each with original balconette, and blank bay to right, with newer masonry. First floor has three large plain sash, that to right in recessed panel, late C19 pilaster shopfront has vigorously modelled scrolled consoles to cornice and blind box. Thin platband over first floor, lintel, frieze, dentil cornice, blocking course and parapet, with deep ridge stack to left. No.4 has paired twelve pane sash dormer in slate mansard, above twelve pane at second floor. First floor sashes have been replaced by paired small pane casements with shallow transom light, pilaster shopfront similar to No.3. Trim also as No.3, coped party division with deep ridge stack, left. Lead downpipe with small hopperhead between properties.
