THE PEWS ST NICHOLAS'S, BRIGHTON, East Sussex

Author(s): Roger Bowdler

Dr Richard Morrice, Inspector for the South-East Region, has asked for a view on the significance of the surviving pews in the old parish church of Brighton, St Nicholas. The church was substantially rebuilt in the 1850s under R. C. Carpenter, a key figure in the Tractarian Movement. Current proposals call for the removal of most (if not all) of the pewing.
