Wells Garage, West Hill Works, West Hill, Hitchin, Herts: Historic Building Report

Author(s): Hannah Waugh

Published no date

West Hill Works was established in the early 1920s for the manufacture and repair of motor vehicles, engines and machinery. The premises were occupied by Frank Herbert ('Bert') Wells until his death in 1980, and continue to provide workshop space for servicing cars, but despite this longevity of use the building has been little altered since the 1920s and 1930s. It is also notable for retaining many items of vintage machinery.
