THE CLASSIFICATION OF SLAGS FROM LAUNCESTON CASTLE, CORNWALL.

Author(s): J G McDonnell

Nearly 190 kg of slag and other residues were recovered from 11th-19th century contexts. Most of the 150 kg 0f iron smithing slags came from two phases representing the third quarter of the 13th century and the mid 14th century. There was also some evidence for iron smelting. A small amount of non-ferous metalworking appears to have been carried out in the 16th century.
