A NOTE ON THE PETROLOGY OF SOME LATE IRON AGE POTTERY FROM ILCHESTER, SOMERSET.

Author(s): D F Williams

A heavy mineral separation on three sherds of late Iron Age coarse cooking-ware pottery from Ilchester produced a tourmaline-rich residue from one of the sherds suggesting that it was made some distance away in the Wareham - Poole Harbour area of Dorset. It is interest-ing to note that Durotrigian ware was reaching Ilchesterprior to the Roman conquest.
