ARCHAEOMAGNETIC DATING: LURK LANE, BEVERLEY, 1979-80.

Author(s): A J Clark

A sequence of six superimposed pitched tile hearths on the site of a medieval building beside Beverley Minster produced archaeomagnetic dates ranging from about cal AD 1285-1340, at the same time consolidating a little understood part of the magnetic reference curve. A separate hearth was dated to about 1210. Tilt corrections were successfully applied to two hearths.
