REPORT ON THE SLAGS FROM THE 1987-8 EXCAVATIONS AT TROWBRIDGE CASTLE, WILTSHIRE.

Author(s): J G McDonnell

Examination of the iron working debris showed that smithing had been carried out on the site during the Saxon Period and during the construction of the 12th century church. A small quantity of smelting slag was recovered, but insufficient to indicate that smelting had been carried out on site.
