SOIL AT PENHALE, NEAR NEWQUAY, CORNWALL.

Author(s): H C M Keeley

Three soil profiles were examined during excavations by the Central Excavation Unit of a Late Iron Age round house at Penhale, near Newquay, Cornwall. This report describes the soils and analyses for loss-on-ignition, particle size distribution and pH carried out on samples from two of the profiles. The buried soils wereessentially similar to present-day soils of the Powys Association but had been significantly modified by post-depositional processes.
