THE CHARRED MACROSCOPIC PLANT REMAINS FROM A NEOLITHIC PIT AND BRONZE AGE BARROW AND DITCH AT ROUGHRIDGE HILL, WILTSHIRE

The identification of the charcoals and other charred plant remains from the Neolithic rubbish pit and Bronze Age barrow and ditch at Roughridge Hill, Wiltshire produced several interesting finds in the form of beech and ash charcoal. This is an early record for beech and ash charcoal which may represent the regeneration secondary woodland. Other finds include barley caryopses, hazel nutshells and onion couch grass tubers.
