QUERNSTONES AND HONESTONES FROM THE ROMANO-BRITISH SITE AT BOXFIELD FARM, STEVENAGE, HERTFORDSHIRE

Author(s): D F Williams

Some seventy fragments of rotary quernstones were examined, together with a tertiary sandstone honestone. The vast majority of the quernstone fragments were from long distance imported stones: Mayen lava and Millstone Grit. Very little of the local puddingstone was found, which may have chronological implications.
