THE HAYES FARM, CLYST HONITON, DEVON 1987; CARBONISED PLANT REMAINS.

Author(s): T Pearson

During excavations of Prehistoric, Romano-British and post Romano-British features at Hayes Farm, Clyst Honiton, Devon, charred plant remains were recovered using a water separation machine and hand flotation. These included cereals, chaff, arable and grassland weeds. The prehistoric features produced a very small quantity of cereal remains. Larger cereal assemblages were obtained from Romano-British contexts. The botanical remains have provided information on crops, crop processing and the local environment.
