X-Ray diffraction analysis of mortar samples from Derwentcote Furnace, Co. Durham. G.McDonnell and J.Webb Summary 27 Samples of the 54 collected from this post-medieval structure were analysed by XRD. 20 were silica-calcite mixtures though five also contained some gypsum.The remainder were silica-clay mixtures,some with a little calcite present.
