ANALYSIS OF EARLY MEDIEVAL GLASS FRAGMENTS FROM LONDON

Author(s): M P Heyworth

A small number of early medieval glass vessels fragments from excavations at Bedfordbury and the National Gallery sites in London were analysed using inductively coupled plasma spectrometry. The data was compared with other data of similar glass from London in an attempt to discriminate between different vessel types on the basis of their composition, however this was not possible. The early medieval glass composition could be distinguished from data for a Roman glass fragment identified from the Bedfordbury site.
