INTERIM REPORT ON SLAG RECOVERED DURING EXCAVATIONS AT YORK MINSTER

The excavations revealed evidence of two smithy areas in trenches XB and XK. The quantities of smithying debris recovered from the other trenches can be considered to background levels. There was no evidence for iron smelting on the sites.
