EXAMINATION OF SLAG AND OTHER MATERIAL FROM VARIOUS SITES EXCAVATED BY THE CENTRAL EXCAVATION UNIT

Samples of slag and other material thought to be associated with metalworking processes from 14 sites excavated by the Central Excavation Unit were examined They are identified in the report and the significance of the results is discussed. The surfaces of a mould fragment and two possible crucibles were analysed elementally using energy dispersive x-ray fluoresence.
