Church of St Mary, Horse Fair, Banbury - Cherwell

St Mary's Banbury is a very fine late C18 classical church with a distinctive tower designed by architect S P Cockerell with additions by his son, C R Cockerell, in 1818-22. Poor roof detailing led to water ingress and much of the high level stonework is very dilapidated. The congregation accepted a Listed Places of Worship Roof Repairs Grant in 2015 and implemented a programme of roof repairs in early 2016. Urgent repairs to the east end were the subject of a successful application to the National Lottery Heritage Fund Grants for Places of Worship, due to commence in the summer of 2019.
