St Mary's Church, Church Lane, Portbury - North Somerset (UA)
C12 parish church, altered and extended early C13 and C14/C15, restored 1870-5. The stone slate roofs of the chancel, vestry and associated lean-to roofs have come to the end of their life. Water has been getting in causing ceiling plaster falls. A National Lottery Heritage Fund Grant for Places of Worship enabled roof repairs completed in 2014. However, further problems with the poor state of the sandstone wall, especially on the south transept, keeps the church at risk. A further National Lottery Heritage Fund grant has been awarded and the project development is nearing completion.
