Description

This material has not yet been fully catalogued. Copyright, date, and quantity information for this record may be incomplete or inaccurate.

The album cover title reads 'The Albert Memorial' and the album contains 29 photographs taken shortly after completion (i.e. c.1872). The images are primarily details of sculpture and the names of the sculptors are often given. The photographs were taken by A. & G. Taylor of London.

This is a published album (although it bears no bibliographic details) marking the completion of the memorial. Contains handwritten note "The Albert Memorial (London c.1872): An officially produced set of 30 photographs... taken after the official unveiling but before the completion of J H Foley's statue of the Prince".

The images contained within the album are: a general view (1 image), and sculptures representing Europe, Asia, Africa and America (4 images), Agriculture, Manufactures, Commerce and Engineering (4 images), The Poets and Musicians (5 images), The Painters (5 images), The Architects (5 images) and The Sculptors (5 images).

Another album containing the same 29 prints is in the NMR as AL0167. The binding is different.
