Description
A collection of 268 colour 35mm slides taken by Anthony Deller (1940-2016), a railway engineer and amateur photographer. The slides were taken for personal interest during his leisure time between 1966 and 1987. Scenes around London and the Home Counties predominate but other locations include Exeter, Bristol, Lewes, Sidmouth, Bridgnorth and the Isle of Wight. Subjects featured include street scenes (including Christmas lights), London landmarks, steam trains, construction and dockland views (prior to the wholescale redevelopment of the London docks). A sizable number of slides show state events including the Lord Mayor's Show (1977), the State Opening of Parliament (1977), Garter Day, the Order of the Garter (1979) as well as Lewes Carnival (1971) the London Marathon (1982).
