Description

The collection contains about 1500 small format photographs of Georgian Houses in England taken by Michael Barker between about 1965 and 1975. The photographs were taken for a proposed survey publication on Georgian houses. Midlands counties and the Home Counties are best represented.

The photographs mostly show exteriors of rural or small town Georgian houses of some pretension ranging in size between four and seven bays, including manor houses, rectories, vicarages, and farmhouses. There a few interiors, press cuttings, sales particular cuttings and colour images. There are no examples of urban or terrace housing or large country houses.

A handlist is available.
