Description

Batnors Hall is now the Notre Dame Convent School. The album contains prints showing the original 1718 front and the dining room with the 1589 panelled overmantel. There are other external views of the house as well as coverage of the estate including the gardens both kitchen and formal. Many of these show figures, groups and animals. Also featured are views of Lingfield town showing the 14th century church of St Peter and St Paul and St Peter's Cross and the 'Cage'. The cross dates from 1415 and the 'Cage' which was the village lockup was added in 1773. The village pond lies adjacent to the cross.
