Collection: Beans Engineering Works

Description

60 images taken at munitions factories run by A Harper, Son and Bean Ltd with branches in Dudley, Smethwick and Tipton. A number of the photographs may have been taken at The National Projectile Munitions Factory at Dudley, which was set up after land was purchased from the company by the Ministry of Munitions. Most of the photographs show machinery and workers employed in the production of munitions during the First World War although a few others have been taken at a later date.

The images held at the English Heritage Archive are copy negatives; it is not known where the original negatives are held. The prints that are held in the Red Box Collection have all been filed under Tipton.
