Description

Sales particulars relating to the dispersal of the house, grounds and home farm, one-time residence of the theologian Thomas Sherlock. The collection also contains additional historic information. Six pages of correspondence give further architectural detail and history of the property and include some reminiscences from Isabella Somerset, a former owner.

The successful purchaser of the estate, Mr Burton Tate, engaged the London firm of Walker & Harwood to carry out renovations. Four original photographs taken by Thomas Lewis Ltd of Birmingham show the hall, landing, front door and dining room after restoration. Four other original photographs of locks taken by the same photographer are each inscribed Mr Burton Tate on the verso.

There is a plan showing the ground and first floors.
