Description

The collection comprises a printed book, published in 1868, entitled 'Photographic Views of Bolton and Neighbourhood by Reuben Mitchell'. The book contains 12 black and white photographic prints showing views of the town and surrounding area. It has been assumed that the majority of the photographs were taken circa 1867-1868, but at least one pre-dates 1866 (when the subject of the image was demolished). The book was printed by John Booth of the Old Post Office, Bradshawgate, Bolton. The volume contains some of the earliest known images of Bolton.

Archival History

The collection was acquired by the Historic England Archive in 2015.
