Description

The collection contains vertical aerial photographic prints flown for British Railways and its successor, British Rail, between 1952 and 1969 by various air survey companies showing railway lines in the south of England. The negatives for the frames flown by Meridian Airmaps Limited are likely to be held in the Historic England Archive.

There are approximately 10000 prints flown by the following: BKS Surveys (10%), Cartographical Services (Southampton) Limited (5%), Fairey Air Surveys/Fairey Surveys Limited (25%), Hunting Aerosurveys Limited/Hunting Surveys Limited (20%), Meridian Airmaps Limited (30%), Not identified (10%).
