The collection contains a photo album and loose photographs showing Combe Bank house, grounds and estate buildings, and views of the nearby village of Sundridge in Kent.

The album contains: 28 view of Combe Bank house (8 of exteriors, 48 of room interiors - including redecorated Saloon of c.1880 by Walter Crane, and wall painting of industrial site -, 4 of ceiling plasterwork and carving, and 7 of the house at a distance from the park or garden); 37 views of the parks, gardens, drive, lake and woodland of Combe Bank (including greenhouses, bowling green, tennis court, garden buildings and a grade II listed rustic arch and bridge in the grounds); 8 views of the Combe Bank stable block (5 exteriors and 3 interiors including gas engine and machinery); 12 views of farm buildings and rick yard; 19 views of Combe Bank estate houses (including 4 of Dower House? and gardens, 4 of lodges, 3 interiors of a farmhouse?, and 1 exterior of a house beside a railway line); 7 views of streets and buildings in Sundridge? (including fire station?, a school? and St. Mary's church and lych-gate).

The loose photographs comprise: 11 interior views of rooms in Combe Bank, 1 view of the exterior of the house obscured by trees, 1 view of the lake, and 1 view of stone ornaments in the garden framing a vista. There is also 1 mechanical print of a drawing depicting Combe Bank in the 18th or 19th century and labelled 'Combank'.

Archival History

This collection, and Combe Bank itself, was formerly in the ownership of Robert Ludwig Mond. The photographs may have been taken as part of the sale process of the house soon after the First World War.

The album was purchased by the NMR in 2008.
