Description

The collection consists of a 16 page published prospectus entitled ‘Covent Garden 1670-1914’. It was created to publicise the creation of the company Covent Garden Market Ltd, formed to acquire the market in 1914. It contains nine black and white photomechanical prints showing interior and exterior views of the market operations, and an essay by John Murray entitled ‘An Historical Essay from 1670-1914’.

Archival History

The collection was acquired by The Historic England Archive in 2008. The item probably relates to the large existing Covent Garden archive, created by the GLC, which passed to the NMR in 2005.
