Description

This material has not yet been fully catalogued. Copyright, date, and quantity information for this record may be incomplete or inaccurate.

The collection contains colour and black and white photographs and negatives of disused Ground Control Intercept radar station at RAF Chenies, Flaunden, Hertfordshire. The represent a comprehensive visual record of the building that was presumably taken for official purposes after most equipment was stripped out of it before 2004. Locations inside this complex are not defined. The only evidence of radar appear to be "a modern radome on top of [a] tall concrete tower" and inside the Operations Room an elaborate status screen showing: Mission Tote (Aircraft Ser[ial] No., Callsign, Airborne), Frequencies, Weather, Airfield State (with named airfields), and AA States (with map).

Negatives and prints for each image are available. The negative sheet number matches the relevant print packet number.

Archival History

The collection was acquired by the NMR in 2009.
