Description

Volumes I and II of three commercially produced albums entitled 'The Seats and Mansions of Berkshire, Photographically Illustrated by Beard and Company, Twyford' and dated 1866. The albums are dated 1866 and contain a total of 78 large high quality photographic prints of exterior views of country houses in Berkshire, some showing the owners posed in the gardens and grounds. Each photograph is accompanied by descriptive text on the preceding page.

Archival History

Beard and Company was a commercial photographic business based in Twyford in Berkshire.

There is no information on the acquisition of the albums. They were transferred from the Fortress House head office of the RCHME to the Collections Management Unit of the National Monuments Record in 1991.

The albums were catalogued in detail on 28 and 29 June 2000.
