Group of 47 drawings and artworks by Sydney G Follett. Most are signed by Follett and interestingly in the earliest his name is spelt Sidney. One unsigned drawing (MD71/00148) appears to be in Follett's hand though the hatching convention to show walls and the rather thick pen lines on the plans are unique to this drawing.
The drawings are notable for their fine draughtsmanship and subtle blue-grey colourwash. Subjects include manor houses and associated buildings and a series of survey drawings for St. Mary's church, Warmington and two tombs in Wells Cathedral.
MD61/00195 is a perspective watercolour and block plan of Great Maytham, Rolvenden, Kent, dated 1910, the year after its completion by Sir Edwin Lutyens. It is signed del. S.G.Follett, and also signed by Lutyens himself. Follett worked as an assistant to Sir Edwin Lutyens from 1909 - 1911.
These drawings were originally catalogued as part of the NMR Measured Drawings collection. When re-catalogued in 2001 they were reorganised under their own collection reference.
