Description

The collection contains surveys, specifications, reports, photographs, correspondence and drawings created or commissioned by GHK or Gilmore Hankey Kirke Architects between about 1976 and 1986. They relate to conservation work undertaken at The Grange at Northington, Hampshire: a complex neo-classical country house which is a Grade 1 listed English Heritage property.

Some of the material is signed by D. R. A. Hankey A.R.I.B.A. The collection includes material created by English Heritage. It also includes official assessments including historical and archaeological research produced by the Department of the Environment. on the sequence of additions or alterations made to the fabric and estate which informed the level of the 1980s restoration.

Archival History

The collection was acquired by the NMR in 2011.

Some of the drawings have been filed into the main series of plans of English Heritage properties (EHC01/022). The remaining drawings and other items in the collection are housed in 42 files as GHK02.
