Description

The collection consists of fifty-two black and white photographic prints, the majority of which were taken by Thomas Joseph Wilmott Hanstock during the early 20th century. They show good interiors of York Minster, with some possibly taken well before World War II.

Within the collection are also prints from negatives held at the Yorkshire Museum. The original images were taken by Joseph Duncan during the 1870s and 1880s.

Archival History

The collection was acquired by The Historic England Archive in 2009.
