Description

The collection contains 110 black and white photographic file prints taken by Jane Hatcher between 1981 and 1988. The photographs were taken during the course of Hatcher's research into the listed buildings of Richmondshire, and many of the images were used alongside RCHME photographs in her book 'Richmondshire Architecture', first published in 1990. It is believed that Hatcher retained the original negatives for the photographs.

Between 1984 and 1988 Jane Hatcher, an architectural historian, worked on the Historic Buildings and Monuments Commission's re-survey of listed buildings. She was also a founder member of the Yorkshire Buildings Preservation Trust, and Northern Caseworker for the Victorian Society.
