The collection comprises photographic material from a range of dates relating to Hill Hall in Theydon Mount, Essex. The collection appears to have been deposited with the Historic England Archive via other teams within the organisation, and therefore may have been compiled to aid conservation work on the building.
The collection is comprised of the following elements: 1) Nine black and white photographic prints mounted on board, probably taken by the builders Wire and Forrest of Bethnal Green, dating from circa 1901 when some building work took place. This set includes one exterior view of Theydon Mount Church, and two group views of the builders 2) Five black and white photographic prints, copied from originals probably held by RIBA, showing proposed alterations to the building for Lord Edward Hay, dating from February 1933, alongside two copy negatives 3) Forty-five black and white and three colour prints, primarily made from Ministry of Works and Department of the Environment negatives held in the PSA A Series, showing details of the building following the fire of 1969 4) 385 colour 35mm slides, probably created by the Department of the Environment, in the 1970s - 1980s, showing details of excavation work and architectural features taken whilst work was being carried out at the site 5) 431 black and white contact prints made from negatives created by the Department of the Environment in the 1980s, showing conservation works to the building. The original negatives are likely to be held within the PSA A series.
