Description

A collection of photographic material relating to Hill Hall, Theydon Mount. The collection is likely to have been put together for research purposes during the 1980s and 1990s, when Hill Hall was undergoing restoration. The identity of the compiler of the collection is not known.

Included within the collection are: nine black and white prints dating from 1901, taken by a building company during works to Hill Hall; 384 colour 35mm slides, probably dating from the 1980s and likely to have been taken by the Department of the Environment, documenting archaeological excavations during restoration of the building; 43 loose prints from a variety of sources, also showing excavations during restoration; and five copies of measured drawings, with two copy negatives, showing proposed alterations to Hill Hall in 1933 for Lord Hay - the originals of these drawings are held by the Royal Institute of British Architects.
