Coverage : Photographic prints and souvenir booklet commemorating the great storm of Margate KE, 29 November 1897. Both prints and booklet illustrate the storm in progress as well as extensive damage to the sea front and pier. One of the prints is used in the booklet. Received Via : Removed from Kent "Originals", 1998 No information as to when this material was originally acquired.

Provenance : George E Houghton, Photographic Artist, 19 Fort Road and 55 Fort Road, Margate, Kent. Also a premises in Broadstairs, Kent. The booklet entitled "Photographic Souvenir of the Great Storm, Margate, November 29, 1897" was produced by the photographer.
