Description

The collection comprises 109 small format prints by an unknown photographer, documenting the seaside town of Ilfracombe, North Devon, in the late 19th or early 20th centuries. The photographs show the harbour and pier, the Victoria Pavilion and the Ilfracombe Hotel, people in the Victoria Pleasure Grounds and on Capstone Hill, as well as a procession in the town, and general street scenes. There are a number of photographs showing people on the various beaches. Alongside these, there are photographs of unidentified farms and a water mill, presumably in the Ilfracombe area. No further information is known regarding the provenance of these photographs.
