Coverage : Correspondence relating to Aqualate Hall, Forton, ST. The collection includes a set of letters from J Nash to the owner, Mr Boughey, discussing plans for the terrace and garden (dated 1810 - 1813), and between W D Caroe and the then owner Mrs Morris concerning proposals to alter the house (dated late 1920's). There is also some related legal correspondence. Apart from the correspondence there are several site plans showing the park, copies of C19th photographs of exterior and interior and two watercolours showing interiors.

Archival History

Provenance : Material borrowed from W Coplestone-Boughey in c1980 via Peter Reid for copying. Most of the material was returned except for a small portion that was retained by John Summerson for research. Patricia Drummond transcribed the Nash letters. W Coplestone-Boughey died in the interim and his son J Coplestone-Boughey has not been traced.This material was discovered in the London PSR.
