Description

The collection comprises about 6500 colour 35mm slides and 1000 colour transparencies compiled by Jeremy Lake, former Historic Environment Intelligence Analyst for Historic England.

The collection can be divided into the following groups of material: • Circa 1000 colour slides showing non -conformist chapels in Cornwall, photographed by Eric Berry • Circa 5150 colour slides showing farmsteads (national), photographed by Susanna Wade Martins • Circa 300 colour slides showing military sites (national and international), provenance unknown for some, others credited to Stephen Dent for English Heritage (2004) • Circa 1000 colour transparencies showing farmsteads (national), photographed by Mike Williams The farm photography informed the publication: 'Thematic Survey of Planned and Model Farmsteads' by Wades-Martin, Hawkins and Lake (1997) and probably also ‘Thematic Listing Surveys: The Norfolk Pilot Project’, Journal of the Historic Farm, Lake, J. & S. Wade Martin (1997).

Also in the collection are original drawings made for an English Heritage leaflet: 'Understanding Listing: The East Anglian Farm'. The images were taken between about 1980 and 2000.
