Description

A collection of twenty-five colour 35mm slides, taken in the 1970s by Julius Smit. The slides show tombs, gravestones and monuments in churchyards and cemeteries at a variety of locations, including: Flitwick, Bedfordshire; Higham Gobion, Bedfordshire; Ridgmont, Bedfordshire; Tingrith, Bedfordshire; Helpston, Cambridgeshire; Marholm, Cambridgeshire; Painswick, Gloucestershire; Wilsthorpe, Lincolnshire; Beckington, Somerset; Compton, Surrey; and Thursley, Surrey.

Archival History

Received Via : Proportion (possibly all?) of material transferred via J T Smith Provenance : Julius Smit was a former RCHME member of staff who compiled this photographic record privately in the 1970s, on the basis of personal interest; photographs are attributed to him, though no information exists to confirm that all slides are his work. Other slides from J.T. Smith are described as SMI01.
