Description

The collection comprises 14 black and white photographs showing Whitechapel Bell Foundry in London taken in 1974 by John Lurcook (1926-2020). John Lurcook was born and lived in Sevenoaks, Kent. He qualified as a photographer at the London Polytechnic and became a senior Government photographer, ultimately employed at the Department of Trade and Industry. He had a lifelong interest in local and British history. The photographs of the Whitechapel Bell Foundry were taken on a private visit. Some are A2-sized exhibition prints mounted on board, others are smaller format prints. There is also a set of contact sheets - the images on these have not been catalogued at item level.
