Description

The collection consists of a report by the architect Matthew Digby Wyatt entitled 'A Report to accompany the Designs For a National Gallery, submitted by M. Digby Wyattt, Architect to her Majesty’s Government'. It dates from 1866 and contains an eight page report, with twenty-four accompanying black and white photographic prints. These show floor plans and interior and exterior sketches of the proposal. This is an unexecuted design by a significant architect and is an early example of the use of photography for such as purpose.

The report was published by the printers Wyman and Sons, based at Great Queen Street, Lincoln’s Inn Fields, W.C.
