The collection contains 28 glass plate negatives showing different aspects of Ockham House, Hurst Green, East Sussex. Included amongst the images are men, women and children, presumably members of the Boyle family who were living at the house at the time.
The collection was given to the NMR in 1999 by the Tolsey Museum Committee. The collection was found in a barn in Burford, Oxfordshire in 1998 and was donated to the museum which is in Burford.
It seems likely that the negatives were once in the possession of Sir Edward Boyle (1848/9-1909) and his son Sir Edward Boyle (1878-1945) who were owners of Ockham House.
