Description

The collection contains measured drawings and photographs of Euston Arch, the Doric arch demolished in 1962, that stood in front of Euston railway station in London.

The drawings (OMD01/01) were drawn by Bruce Allen Ormerod AMICE, resident British Railways engineer at Euston who, uniquely, made measurements during the demolition of this key structure. These high quality drawings consist of three duplicate sets of drawings, on paper, linen and Ozalid, and include plans, sections and isometric perspectives drawings, with one set tinted with colour.

The photographs (OMD01/02) are in an album compiled by Ormerod. There are 47 photographs and some were taken by British Railways. They show the arch before and during demolition and include interior views.

Archival History

The collection was acquired by The English Heritage Archive in 2012.
