The collection comprises 248 digital images showing black and white views of the activities and products of Pearson's of Liverpool, a vehicle dealer and coach/ bodybuilder.
Pearson's manufactured and assembling military vehicles during the Second World War. The images were scanned from a set of 12" x 10" prints originally contained in a lockable wooden box to preserve military secrecy. This box was salvaged from the closure of a Pearson's owned company in the 1950s and in the early 2000s were the subject of a book 'After The War Was Over' by Alan Earnshaw and David Heyward, published in 2008.
The photographs are mostly close-up views of trucks, coaches and military vehicles and were taken from the 1920s to the 1950s. There are also images showing interiors of Pearson's workshops and factories. The location of most of the photographs is the area around Overbury Street, Smithdown Lane and Faulkner Street in Liverpool.
