A collection of 348 photographic prints donated to the Archive by Scarborough Borough Council. The prints are duplicates of images held by the Council, and range in date from c1890 - 1986, with particular focus on the years 1925-1929 and 1955-1965. The prints show various aspects of Scarborough, including slum-clearance c1929, housing estates in the 1930s, temporary prefab housing in 1946, illuminated art deco light pillar and ventilator c1935, and the open air swimming pool and concrete diving stage c1935 - 1939. There is a good sequence of photographs showing the reconstruction of the Valley Bridge 1925 - 1928.
