Auction sales particular for the sale of Stowe, Buckinghamshire taking place over nineteen days from 4th July 1921, by Jackson Stops.
Part 1of the particulars includes the sale of the freehold of the house and estate, comprising 24 farms and smallholdings, the village of Dadford, the hamlet of Chackmore and residential and commercial buildings in Buckingham. This was the first day's sale.
Part 2 details the sale of the contents of the main house, plus the garden temples, statues etc, and took place over the remaining eighteen days of the auction. Garden statuary, buildings and temples were for sale on the second to last day.
There are 59 half-tone photographic plates taken by R and H Chapman, Buckingham, comprising 1 general view of the house, 2 exteriors, 16 interiors, 17 views of garden temples, buildings and monuments, 10 of paintings, 8 of tapestries, 1 of a piece of furniture, 2 of books, 1 of an 'Alto Revero', and 1 of the coat of arms.
The sales particular also includes 4 plans, 1 of the main house and grounds, 1 of Dadford village, 1 of Chackmore village and 1 of Buckingham.
The sales particular has 232 numbered pages, but pages 213 to 216 are missing. The binding is in poor condition and the covers and many pages are loose.
