Description
The Crown Estate is responsible for managing land owned by the reigning UK monarch. The Crown Estate Acts of 1956 and 1961 led to its establishment managed by an independent board: The Crown Estate Commissioners.
The Crown Estate is responsible for a portfolio of forests, farmland, industrial buildings, offices and housing across the country. It is not responsible for the Royal Palaces or the Royal Parks (apart from Windsor Great Park).
