Description

The collection consists of 17 black and white glass whole-plate negatives showing exteriors and interiors of houses in Cheyne Walk, Chelsea, London. They are mainly views of 38-39 and 118 Cheyne Walk, Chelsea. The negatives may have been taken for designer C R Ashbee (1863-1942) who bought 118 and 119 Cheyne Walk in 1897-8 and remodelled these houses. 119 Cheyne Walk was where the artist J M W Turner died.
